“How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!’ . . . So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” Romans 10:14-15, 17
We all struggle, or have struggled, with how to effectively share the one true faith with a truly lost neighbor, friend, or co-worker. Thre is no good, one, exclusive answer or method. When ways of sharing the gospel are invented and marketed, they have a tendency to come off as a pre-canned sales pitch.
In this good article (acces it by clicking --> here <--)Timothy K. Beougher explores five things we need to focus on to be a faithful witness. I would add #6 as being led by the Holy Spirit in the moment - something that requires time in the Word and prayer.
Here are his five areas of emphasis - each tied to a body part to aid in remembering them:
1. The Head of a Faithful Witness. Know that the world - i.e. those around you right now - are hopeless in eternity without Jesus, and that Jesus is the only remedy. If you beieve this firmly, and know the four aspects of the gospel message (in the article), you have the first aspect.
2.The Heart of a Faithful Witness. What makes your heart fill with joy? Do you speak out of that joy - speaking about the thing that caused your heart to be so full? Of course you do. Then delight in the Lord and let that bubble out of your conversation!
3.The Eyes of a Faithful Witness. The fields are white unto harvest ( John 4:35). Look not at your own circumstance, but at the work the God has set before you!
4.The Feet of a Faithful Witness. May your video match your audio. Go back and re-read Psalm 1. Walk in the path of righteousness lest your witness be undercut by apparent and obvious hypocracy.
5.The Mouth of a Faithful Witness. You must use words.
