Ho hum. So what? Big deal. 

What makes these storybook endings so impactful, is this: in each Christmas movie, there is conflict before there is resolution. 

In this article, Paul David Tripp unpacks the bad news (the conflict) that makes the good news (the euangelion - or the gospel) so impactful! If we were not fallen in sin and hopelessly so, then the coming of our Savior would be pointless. We could look at him and say, "Thanks, mate, but I've already got this."

The wonder of the Advent only makes sense if we have an appreciation of our fallen condition. That is the bad news of Christmas!
