Psalm 127:1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Spending on church constrution, nationwide, peaked in 2020, but then started a precipitous decline. The year after COVID, 2021, it hit a massive low. Since then, however, it has been rebounding. In fact, this year, according to this Wall Streen Journal Article (here):

Federal data shows that religious construction spending rose nearly 17% in the 12 months running through June. Overall construction spending fell nearly 3% in the same period, weighed down by high interest rates and soaring costs for materials and labor.

Why are more people spending on the funtionality of the church - Sojourn Chuch included?  It is because this world needs a church that functions. They need a place to find meaning. They need a place to meet spiritual and temporal needs. The world had grown tired of stripped-down mazes of bureauocracies that treat deep needs with temporal "band-aids." This world needs the transformative power of God's Word.

Transactional success without transformation power is shallow. It always has been, and it is still today.

Join us as we endeavor to establish God's church here, on mission, in the mission field of St Jo: Northside (one word)!!
