Porn is ubiquitous. It is everywhere, and I am happy that God, in his providence, chose to bring me into a world where that was not the case while I was young.
But that doesn't help those, whom God has brought into this current oversexualized world. Yet, there is help in our great Helper! You can read Ray Ortlund's full article by clicking --> here <--
Here are his two big points (read the article for a better treatment of both)
One, you can guard your heart from lustful thoughts.
You can’t stop birds from flying over your head, but you can stop them from making nests in your hair. That is what “guarding your heart” looks like. It’s how “the springs of life” stay fresh and full within.
Two, you can guard your heart from despairing thoughts.
Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of dliving water.’” (John 7:38)
There are practical ways of guarding the heart - usually involving crying out to God for help in the time of temptation, and when erring, calling out for grace and mercy.
Sex is a gift of God, but this world gets it all wrong. The spirit of this age will tell you that sex is a gift for the person to enjoy. It is to be enjoyed selfishly. Yet, this view of sex is what has led to so much despair, sex slavery, and regret that we see in the wake of the sexual revolution.
It is time to stand up to the corrupt culture and say "Enough of your lies!" God's gift of sex is for our spouse to enjoy. If we orient it in that direction, we find the ultimate self-fulfillment. In other words, self gratification is not the chief end of sex. It is the God-ordained end of marriage and family. The fulfillment of the self comes as a collateral benefit with this original reorientation of sex as a marriage gift to a spouse within a Godly union.
If you are unmarried, then consider the life of Jesus. He lived a perfect sinless life, was tempted in all manners, but was without error. He never married. He never had sex.
What did he do with all his energies at all levels of his being? “He went about doing good” (Acts 10:38). So can you, by his grace, for his glory.
Ray Ortlund urges those in the fight against temptations to indulge in pornography to pray through, and meditate on Psalm 25.
6 Remember your mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love,
for they have been from of old.
7 Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
according to your asteadfast love remember me,
for the sake of your goodness, O Lord!
