Threre is benefit to bodily exercise (1 Tim 4:8) but doing such to the exclusion of spiritual growth is error. 

A year ago, as I was moving here to St. Joseph, I had a membership at a gym (because we were moving, and it was a good place to shower when I was still "commuting" from Northern Illinois). It was then that I discovered that running on a treadmill WITHOUT music or podcasts was an amazing time of prayer. What a sweet way to set my day and worship the Lord, all while conducting daily maintenance on the temple of the Holy Spirit. (1 Cor 6:19)

To this day, I have programmed silence into my morning runs or workouts. That is when I go to God by praying the Word as well as presenting the pressing needs of the upcoming day, the burdens of ministry, and the needs of this local body to the only One that holds saving power. I have become addicted to this time!

P.S. The author of the book review could not write without mentioning that he does "Cross Fit."  Seriously?  He also wants to be a 70-year-old that gets up off of the floor without groaning. Well, about that ...
