Recently, the White House announced that the Straight of Hormuz has been successfully demined. Nearly 20% of the world's oil matriculates through that waterway. The presence of mines, along with the threat of attack by Iran, has caused shipping in the region to grind to a halt, only to be tepidly restarted at a fraction of the prior volume. 

That drives up prices for us. 

But what if landmines kept you from going home? To church? What if a landmine had taken your arms or legs? Or your children? Or your spouse or parent? 

Same problem, different perspective.

In this article, Neva Piombino, writing for Ministry Watch, reports on Free Burma Rangers' (FBR) efforts to demine a country where there is little governmental international aid, and an even smaller desire to invest private funds in demining a country that has been heavily mined. The reason for the timidity in international and compassionate respose? The government is not stable - therefore, demining a farmer's field today may result in a new minefield tomorrow. 

Yet, the FBR has recently undertaken an audacious effort to demine homes, fields, and churches. Their plan is solid and their efforts have bourn fruit. Please keep them in prayer and consider financially supporting them as God has blessed you with the ability to do so.
