Matt Harmon lays out a great breakdown of a pattern that false teachers fall into. In summary it is:
- Look at their fruits (Matt 7:16-20)
- Look at how they handle the Word of God
+ Do they assert that it is full of errors, and (viola!) they have the corrections?
+ Do they just outright reject the parts that they do not claim are errant?
+ Do they elevate their wants and desires (lust of the flesh, eyes, pride of life) above the Word of God?
In the end - it is the same old pattern of substituting the subjective self for the objective truth of God as revealed in Scripture. Same old tired playbook - but the enemy keeps successfully using it.
Be wise and discerning!
